I have been lurking for a while now, so thoroughly enjoying your blog, but also getting to know you better than I could ever do on a Sunday morning. For years people have said that I think too much. I rarely meet another person who fits that description too. I get your determination to make things right in your own mind and in your everyday practice.

I've been enjoying the fly-on-the-wall vantage of hearing you express what makes you tick and what you are trying to be. I came from a different place and don't feel the same compulsions, but I will say from somebody who is a little further down the trail, that whatever success is for you, it comes about through faith and not fear. I think that all the kids I have known that were totally screwed up beyond words got that way through their parents fearful over-parenting and smothering and controlling and the like.

And that's all I got. I make no claim to have anything I believe about parenting to be RIGHT!

Ahhhh, this makes me smile. It always feels like such a balance to say what you are hoping for while feeling so new at it, so delicate, so fresh. At least for me. One thing I know for sure is that each family is different and completely capable of sorting the right path for themselves.
I also struggle with the loud WRONG WAY voice in my head! It is more like a hammering SHOULD, full of dire predictions, judgement, and comparisons.
Let's be free to be you and me.
Blogs like this are just a tiny reason why I love you!
