Sticky (almost) Summer
Sticky (almost) Summer
is the odor of tea tree oil
– noble attempts to keep mosquitoes and ticks at bay,
and
fingernails dipped in
distinctly tomato branch aroma
– pinching off aphids and spraying with soapy castile water.
Two hundred (and some odd) birds
putting on a Shakespearian tragedy in the trees
and
the steady spinning of the house fan.
Chilled Sauvignon Blanc
swishing down chicken salad and strawberries
– cooling internal temps on a blanket
in the shade of a Red Bud.

I love this-the epitome of summer, for sure.
I am Natalie (Freeman’s) best friend, & I’ve loved browsing through your blog since she showed it to me a few weeks ago. Your children are absolutely darling! It’s neat to be able to read such a beautiful blog by someone who lives in the same state as me! : )
Hi Tori! Nice to (virtual) meet you! Thank you so much for your sweet words- you just made my good day even better!
